We are delighted to share that we have been shortlisted as finalists in the COVID Crisis Champions category of the 2021 Global Good Awards.

This award recognises and celebrates organisations which have gone the extra mile in responding to the impact of the pandemic and have helped enable people to survive and thrive during these immensely challenging times.

Positive impact is always at the heart of what we do, day in and day out. We are a social enterprise, set up to support people affected by displacement and exploitation by donating 100% of our profits to our parent charity, Migrant Help. We help many, many more vulnerable people through the delivery of our services to incredible charities.

When the pandemic hit, we knew we needed to do even more.

We supported our clients financially

Realising that our charity clients were struggling to meet increased demand on their services just as many of their funding streams, such as events and charity shops, were severely affected, we decided to give some of our clients a discount on their spend during the pandemic. This has continued and, to date, we have saved charities over £25,000.

“The money saved from this discount has given us greater financial confidence and stability to reallocate resources towards hard to fund programmes of ours, including our £15 bi-weekly hardship grant to destitute refugees in Greater London.”

We made it our mission to ensure everyone could access key health guidelines

It quickly became clear that there was a lack of translated resources around COVID-19 and, as such, many people who did not speak English were at risk of not being informed. To be part of the solution, we offered pro-bono services to Doctors of the World and British Red Cross on their translated guidance.

“So far, our translated COVID-19 guidance has been downloaded more than 60,000 times, meaning that essential information to stay safe from the virus has reached a considerable amount of people to contribute to our community’s health and wellbeing. We are looking forward to continuing our partnership with Clear Voice.”

We created a new service

We knew that the reduction of face-to-face services would limit a large number of our clients in serving their vulnerable service users. In response, we established a new video interpreting service, accessible to all of our clients, so they could continue to conduct important, and often highly emotional, appointments in a more personal way. To date, we have delivered over 30,000 minutes of video interpreting and we are very proud to have been able to offer this service.

The Global Good Awards exist to recognise and reward purpose-driven, sustainable and socially impactful change. It is wonderful to be recognised for the work that we do by such a brilliant organisation and prestigious award.

This year the award ceremony will be virtual due to the pandemic and will be held in September. We can’t wait to attend and celebrate all the incredible shortlisted organisations!
